Soprano Deantha Edmunds-Ramsay is originally from Newfoundland and Labrador. She is the first classical singer of Inuit descent, and has performed on stages across Canada and abroad. Deantha is the featured soloist on the CD “Pillorikput Inuit: Inuktitut Arias for All Seasons.” The album was launched in the fall of 2015, with a performance tour of Nunatsiavut. The CD was nominated for a 2016 East Coast Music Award, the first time a classical album has been nominated in the Aboriginal Artist category. As well as teaching music at Touchstone Academy, a private elementary school in Rothesay, New Brunswick, and working as an Aboriginal Student Advisor at New Brunswick Community College, Deantha has a great love of performing. She shares this passion with a large studio of private voice students.
