Michelle Olson is a member of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in First Nation (Yukon) and the Artistic Director of Raven Spirit Dance.
Her work as a performer and creator embraces the arenas of dance, choreography, theatre, opera, dance education and community arts. She received a Bachelor of University Studies at the University of New Mexico and continued her performance training at the Aboriginal Arts Program at the Banff Centre and as an ensemble member of Full Circle First Nations Performance.
Michelle is a Certified Movement Analyst in Laban/Bartenieff and Somatic Studies.
Selected choreographic credits include: Northern Journey/RSD, Mozart’s Magic Flute/Vancouver Opera, Ashes on the Water/RSD & Neworld Theatre, Gathering Light/RSD, Giiwedin/Native Earth Performing Arts, Death of a Chief/National Arts Centre & Native Earth, The Ecstasy of Rita Joe/Western Canadian Theatre and National Arts Centre and Evening in Paris/RSD. Michelle was the recipient of Vancouver International Dance Festival’s Inaugural Choreography Award. She is currently the president of Indigenous Performing Arts Alliance.
