“I am on a international exchange grant from Canada Council for the arts.
I am working with Frances Rings, the choreographer of “SHEOKS” that is under a double bill with another works called I.B.I.S and the bill is called “LORE” and its Bangarra Dance Theatre Company.
My main intent is to understand how Frances works with the Aboriginal culture in a contemporary form. Bangarra has recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. After six years of my first inspiration of the company I have finally arrived with an invitation for Fran. It’s been a long journey to get here but I finally made it and the timing as never been better as I have recently entered my first year as a choreographer and producing my new works with my new company Niitsitapi Dance Theatre that is based on my reserve the Blood tribe in Alberta.
The connections I have made artistically from the Native community here in Sydney Australia has changed the way I see Indigenous performing arts that I have yet to achieve with my work and my company.”
