Leonard Linklater and Patti Flather founded Gwaandak Theatre in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory in 1999.
“Gwaandak” in the Gwich’in language means “telling a story”.
Since 2000, Gwaandak Theatre has shared stories with Northerners and play a prominent role in the development and presentation of new Canadian plays in the North that reflect Northern and Aboriginal experiences. The Theatre has forged strong partnerships with arts organizations, valuable community resources and individuals in the Yukon, as well as outside the territory.
Gwaandak Theatre also provides challenging employment experiences for both emerging and established Yukon theatre artists, who have the opportunity to collaborate and work with guest artists on all of our productions.
