Theresa: Strong and independent. Haunted by the Salmon Spirit and the death of her mother who drowned in the ocean. After a one-night stand she unexpectedly becomes pregnant.

Mikey/Ensemble: Inexperienced. A bit of a goofball. Trying to figure out what it means to be a man.

Businessman/Ensemble: After the loss of his wife he puts all his energy into creating a successful business, which distances him from his daughter Theresa.

Grandmother/Ensemble: Jaded and estranged from her family. Sells baskets on Victoria’s inner harbor.

ABOUT US: Wild Woman Theatre aims to empower Indigenous women through story and providing artistic opportunities.

SPAWN is a thought-provoking family drama that weaves traditional Coast Salish stories with dance and multi-media to tell the story of death and new life. It is the struggle to reconnect to family, culture, community, and land. There is no going back. We can only move forward through the cycle and only the toughest and luckiest complete it.

PRODUCTION DATES: May 24-June 4 2017

NOTE: This production is in a festival setting with a small honorarium. Sides from the script will be provided to prepare for the audition.
